Why Is Vienna So Famous?

Vienna is the capital and largest city in Austria located in the north-eastern part of the country. Vienna is an administrative, industrial, commercial, service, academic, tourist and cultural center of international importance.
You can see a lot there from Gothic St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Imperial Palace to the Art Nouveau splendor of the building exhibition pavilion “Secession”, from the magnificent baroque palace Schönbrunn to the Museum of Art to the current architecture in the Museums Quartier. Schönbrunn Palace is one of the most beautiful Baroque objects in Europe. It has been in the possession of the Habsburg family since 1569. In 1642 the wife of Emperor Ferdinand II, Eleonor Gonzaga, commissioned the construction of a summer residence on this site and for the first time used the term “Schönbrunn”. Completed in 1696, the palace-garden complex, after the siege of Vienna by Ottoman Turks, was radically rebuilt after 1743 by Maria Teresa. Today the palace, due to historical significance, unique park and impressive space arrangement belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage.

Vienna’s Hofburg Castle is one of the world’s largest palace complexes. The oldest part dates back to the 13th century, while the last works continued until the 20th century. Until 1918 Hofburg Castle was the residence and administrative center of the emperors of the Habsburg dynasty. Today there are numerous museums with outstanding collections, the Spanish Court of Driving School, the congress center and the seat of the Austrian president.
